| Executive Director's Message: |
|
This month, the International Business Accelerator is celebrating its two-year anniversary. As with any new program, the first two years have been challenging in terms of establishing a functional program, having a sufficient budget and assembling the correct team to carry out the IBA’s mission. However, with support from New Mexico’s business community, the New Mexico Small Business Development Center Network, Governor Bill Richardson’s office, the New Mexico State Legislature, the New Mexico Economic Development Department, Western New Mexico University, and other organizations, the IBA already has experienced a multitude of client successes.
When I was given the responsibility of establishing and directing the IBA program, it was obvious to me that the most important element any effort can have is its team. A manager’s job is to assemble the best people possible, tie them to a common goal, and then support them in their efforts. It has been my honor to work with the dedicated and enthusiastic personnel in both our Santa Teresa and Chihuahua City offices.
The IBA is now recognized as a unique program in the realm of international trade assistance. Much of this is due to the program’s outreach not only to New Mexico-based businesses, but to foreign businesses interested in establishing a presence in the U.S. During the past two years, we have relied heavily on our local and international partners to extend our reach and services. We have developed not only effective working relationships, but also strong friendships that have benefited our clientele.
As we enter the holiday season, let me take this opportunity on behalf of the IBA staff to thank all of you for your support and interest in our program. We will continue to put forth our best effort to assist companies with their international projects. We look forward to more interaction and successes in 2006.
